2026 Battery UN38.3 Certification (Test Report) & MSDS / SDS

The preparation work for the 2026 Annual Sea Transport Identification Report, Air Transport Identification Report, msds Report, and un38.3 Update has been launched. To avoid the peak period, all customers are advised to make advance preparations for the annual update of 2026 transport identification documents to prevent any impact on normal shipments.

Next year’s standards will be implemented as follows:

① MSDS will comply with GHS (11th Revised Edition)

② Sea transport will follow IMDG Code 42-24 Version

③ Air transport identification will adhere to the new regulations in IATA DGR 67th Edition 2026

Update Process

① Fill in the power of attorney for updating the MSDS, sea/air transport identification report, and UN38.3 report.

② Provide photos of the new-standard outer packaging, outer packaging opening, and inner packaging for lithium battery products.

③ Send samples marked with "Update for 2026 Report"; lithium battery samples must be submitted in accordance with requirements.

④ The certification body will review the submitted documents and test the samples in compliance with the new regulations.

⑤ Upon passing the review and tests, issue the new 2026 versions of the transport identification report, msds report, and UN38.3 report.

④ Various primary batteries (e.g., lithium-manganese batteries, etc.)

 

Required Documents for UN38.3 Certification

① Completed application form (including battery specifications, and customer’s company name, address, telephone number, and email address)

② Battery specification sheet

③ Test samples (the sample nameplate must indicate the model, voltage, capacity, and watt-hour rating; samples must be consistent with the batteries used for shipment and transportation)

 

Additional Documents for Cargo Transport Condition Identification Report (Air/Sea Transport)

If applying for a Cargo Transport Condition Identification Report (for air or sea transport), the following additional documents are required:

① Relevant documents such as power of attorney and transport declaration

② Packaging documents (including photos of outer packaging, outer packaging opening, and inner packaging)

Note

Express services are generally not available for updates. In particular, the UN38.3 report for lithium batteries requires more than 2 weeks to complete.
