What is a ul test report? What is UL certification?

The United States has very stringent safety requirements. For many years, all electronic product manufacturers within the US have been required to undergo relevant safety compliance testing. As Amazon's strategic position in global commerce continues to rise, foreign electronic devices have been entering the US market through Amazon. The US does not mandate safety compliance testing for foreign electronic product manufacturers. However, due to a series of incidents involving electronic products catching fire, on September 24, 2017, US authorities issued laws specifically targeting e-commerce. These laws require Amazon to notify foreign e-commerce sellers on its platform to provide relevant safety compliance reports. Amazon must order sellers to cease sales until they submit test reports meeting UL standards. Additionally, the test reports must be qualified reports issued by laboratories accredited to ISO17025/ILAC ISO 17025 standards. JJR is an IEC 17025 accredited laboratory, offering relevant testing services.

UL Certification Process

UL certification involves product testing and factory inspections, with audits conducted quarterly. The process is costly and time-consuming. A UL test report is issued after a product is tested and meets the corresponding UL standards.

Common UL Standards and Testing Content (Amazon)

- Power Adapter UL62368 Test Report: UL62368 is a North American safety standard for IT power supplies, focusing on requirements for temperature rise, dielectric strength, insulation, etc. Different products and regions have varying safety standards.

- Lithium Battery Pack ul2054 Test Report: UL2054 testing items mainly include electrical tests (short circuit test, overcharge test, abuse overcharge test, over-discharge test, limited power source test), mechanical tests (compression test, shock test, acceleration test, vibration test), battery pack enclosure test, drop impact test, 250N static test, mold stress relief test, fire test, projectile test, environmental tests, high temperature test, temperature cycling test, etc.

- Battery Cell ul1642 Test Report: UL1642's main testing items include room temperature short circuit test, 55-degree short circuit test, overcharge test, compression test, heavy impact test, mechanical shock test, vibration test, thermal box test, temperature shock test, altitude simulation test, projectile test, etc.

- Car Charger UL2089

- Power Bank ul2056

- Audio/Video UL62368

- Data Cable UL9990

- Electric Coffee Pot UL1082

- Garment Steamer UL1005

- Household Appliances UL60335

- LED Display UL48

- Seat Cushion Heater UL130

- Steam Cleaner ul499

- Electric Fan UL507

- Personal Care ul859

Cost of a UL Test Report

There is no fixed standard. The cost varies depending on the specific functions and testing items of different products. You can contact JJR engineers for detailed cost information.

Time Required for a UL Test Report

Generally, it takes 5-7 working days to obtain a UL test report. If the test fails, additional samples may need to be provided for retesting.

Validity Period of a UL Test Report

The UL test report is valid indefinitely, provided that the ul testing standards in the US have not been updated.
