european authorized representative (EU AR), is a natural or legal person designated by a manufacturer located outside the European Economic Area (EEA, including the EU and EFTA). This individual or entity acts on behalf of the non-EEA manufacturer to fulfill specific responsibilities required by EU directives and laws.

01. Appoint an EU Authorized Representative

Non-EU manufacturers must appoint an EU Authorized Representative (AR) established within the 30 member states of the EU + EFTA. The AR acts on behalf of the non-EU manufacturer in dealings with governmental authorities and institutions across these countries.

02. Display the AR on Packaging

Products imported from outside the EU and bearing the CE mark must clearly display the name and address of the EU Authorized Representative on the packaging, label, and user manual.

03. Maintain Technical Files

The EU Authorized Representative must keep the latest Technical Filesfor all CE-marked products. According to EU law, these files must be readily available for inspection by EU authorities. After the last batch of products is placed on the market, the files must be retained by the AR for at least five years.
