The full name of the EU RoHS Directive is “Directive on the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment”. It is a mandatory standard established by EU legislation, aimed at restricting the use of specific hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.

The directive was issued in 2002 and originally applied to most electrical and electronic devices. According to the RoHS Directive, all electrical and electronic products sold in the EU market must comply with the restrictions and standards on these substances. This applies to all types of equipment, from small household appliances to large industrial machines and electronic devices.
