The Latest 2026 Thailand NBTC Compliance Guide

The Southeast Asian market continues to boom, and Thailand, with its superior geographical location and strong consumer demand, has become a core destination for wireless communication and smart hardware enterprises expanding overseas. However, many manufacturers prepare their goods for overseas markets only to have their products detained by customs, fined, or even barred from local sales due to the lack of mandatory nbtc certification—causing all their initial investments to go down the drain. In this article, JJR LAB helps you fully understand Thailand's NBTC certification in one read, ensuring you avoid pitfalls when expanding into Thailand.

Introduction to thailand nbtc certification

Thailand NBTC, which stands for the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission of Thailand, is the competent authority for telecommunications products and networks in Thailand. Its functions are equivalent to China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), and it holds the power of administrative penalty.

Since July 1, 2008, Thailand expanded its mandatory certification specifications, originally targeting mobile phone communication products, to cover all wireless-related products.

Simply put: all wireless and telecommunications products exported to Thailand must first obtain NBTC certification before they can be legally sold and smoothly cleared through customs locally. This is a mandatory entry threshold for the Thai market, leaving no room for taking chances.

Thailand NBTC clearly categorizes 3 certification modes based on product types:

Certification Mode

English Name

Applicable Products

Class A

Registration

RFID devices, cordless phones, ultra-wideband (UWB) products, automotive radar products.

Class B

Approval Certification

2G/3G/4G/5G communication products, mobile phones, tablets, and other terminal products with cellular communication functions.

sdoc

Supplier's Declaration of Conformity

Short-range devices (SRD), WiFi, and Bluetooth products—such as Bluetooth speakers, wireless earbuds, wireless cameras, and other consumer electronics.

2026 Compliance Process for Thailand NBTC Certification

Document Preparation

  • Application Form

  • Product Specification (must include corresponding operating frequency bands)

  • Product Photos (must include internal and external structural photos)

  • RF (Radio Frequency) Test Report (module reports are also acceptable)

  • emc report (Note: an EMC report for the whole machine is required)

  • Safety Report (Similar to the EMC report, a safety report for the whole machine is required)

  • ISO 17025 Certificate of the testing laboratory

Note: Preparing the above materials in advance can significantly shorten the certification cycle. It is recommended to prepare test reports synchronously during the product design phase to avoid later rework. Enterprises can also apply for NBTC certification using CE Reports + Thailand Deviation Testing to further simplify the process.

Application Process

  • Step 1 · Submit Documents: Provide all the relevant materials mentioned above.

  • Step 2 · Confirm Standards: Fill out the testing application form and confirm the testing standards.

  • Step 3 · Pre-testing: JJR arranges pre-testing for the product. If anomalies occur during testing, the manufacturer can communicate with JJR on a verification plan and retest; if the test passes, a draft report will be arranged.

  • Step 4 · Issue Report: Issue the stamped report after confirming the report information.

  • Step 5 · Submit Application: After the report is issued, JJR will submit the documents to the official NBTC authority to apply for the corresponding NBTC certificate.

Timeline and Validity of Thailand NBTC Certification

The certification timeline varies depending on the certification mode:

Certification Mode / Item

Timeline / Validity

SDoC (Supplier's Declaration of Conformity)

1–2 weeks

Class A (Registration Mode)

3–4 weeks

Class B (Approval Certification Mode)

3–4 weeks

NBTC Certificate Validity

No expiration date (Valid indefinitely)
