What Certifications Are Required for Exporting to Mexico?

According to Mexican national metrology and standards regulations, electronic and electrical products must comply with relevant Mexican standards to be sold in the Mexican market. These products must apply for and obtain nom certification from a qualified certification body.

 

Certification Type: Mandatory

- Local Voltage: 127V 60Hz

- Certification Standards: NOM standards

- Factory Inspection: None

- Certificate Validity: 1 year

- Certificate Holder: Mexican manufacturer, importer, distributor

- Controlled Product Categories: Household appliances, audio and video products, lighting products

 

Introduction to Energy Consumption Certification

The Mexican Ministry of Energy and the Consumer Protection Agency jointly issued and implemented the energy consumption labeling scheme, which has been mandatory since September 10, 2011.

 

Mexican Energy Consumption Label Requirements:

1. The label must show the energy consumption per unit time, such as watts/hour or kilowatts/hour.

2. The label information must include at least energy consumption, quantity, and units, and must be clearly visible.

- Factory Inspection: None

- Certificate Validity: Permanently valid if the product remains unchanged

- Certificate Holder: Mexican manufacturer, importer, distributor

- Controlled Product Categories: Household appliances, audio and video products, lighting products

 

Introduction to Mexican Energy Efficiency

Mexican mandatory energy efficiency certification is part of Mexico's mandatory product certification. Products within the scope of mandatory energy efficiency certification must be tested by a Mexican government-recognized testing agency and certified by a recognized certification body. Products must have an energy efficiency label reflecting their energy consumption before entering the Mexican market.

 

Introduction to ifetel

In Mexico, all devices accessing public telecommunications networks and those with radio transmission functions must be approved by the Federal Institute of Telecommunications (IFETEL).

 

Certification Type: Mandatory

- Local Voltage: 127V 60Hz

- Certification Standards: NOM standards

- Factory Inspection: None

- Certificate Validity: 1 year or permanently valid

- Certificate Holder: Mexican manufacturer, importer, distributor

- Controlled Product Categories: Wireless communication, telecommunications, terminal products

- Note: IFETEL certification only accepts test reports issued by Mexican laboratories.

 

Introduction to Energy Efficiency Certification

Certification Type: Mandatory

- Local Voltage: 127V 60Hz

- Certification Standards: NOM standards

- Factory Inspection: None

- Certificate Validity: 1 year or 3 years

- Certificate Holder: Mexican manufacturer, importer, distributor

- Controlled Product Categories: Air conditioners, refrigerators, adapters, etc., within the mandatory scope
