UL is the abbreviation of Underwriter Laboratories Inc.

UL Safety Testing Institute is the most authoritative and the largest non-governmental organization in the world engaged in safety testing and appraisal in the United States. It is an independent, non-profit professional organization that conducts tests for public safety. It uses scientific testing methods to study and determine whether various materials, devices, products, equipment, buildings, etc. are harmful to life and property and the degree of harm; determine, compile and issue corresponding standards and materials that help REDuce and prevent losses of life and property, and carry out fact-finding research.


In short, it is mainly engaged in product safety certification and business safety certification business, and its ultimate goal is to provide the market with products with a fairly safe level and contribute to ensuring personal health and property safety. As an effective means of eliminating technical barriers to international trade, UL also plays an active role in promoting the development of international trade.


UL was founded in 1894. In the initial stage, UL mainly relied on the funds provided by the fire insurance department to maintain its operations. It was not until 1916 that UL became completely independent. After nearly a hundred years of development, UL has become a world-renowned certification body with a complete set of strict organizational management systems, standard development and product certification procedures. UL is managed by a board of directors composed of safety experts, government officials, consumers, education, utilities, insurance industry and representatives of standards departments. Daily work is handled by the president and vice president. At present, UL has five laboratories in the United States, with its headquarters in Northbrook Town, north of Chicago, and corresponding laboratories in Taiwan and Hong Kong . In the United States, UL is a symbol of safety for consumers . Globally, UL is one of the most trusted qualified assessment providers for manufacturers.

UL GREENGUARD is a certification for low cheMICal release of indoor products, ensuring that the chemical release of the product meets the minimum limit requirements. UL GREENGUARD is applicable to more than 480 types of products in 26 industries , including building materials, decoration, furniture, cleaning products and electronic equipment .

 

UL ECOLOGO certification mark

ECOLOGO certification is a multi-attribute certification standard based on the UL product life cycle . It conducts third-party audits and certifications on products and ultimately certifies the green performance of products. This certification can evaluate more than 350 specifications and standards, including multiple green buildings , environmental protection specifications, responsible procurement, green certification and other projects.

 

UL Environmental Declaration Verification Mark

UL Environmental Claim Verification verifies the environmental indicators of a product in a certain aspect. Qualified companies or manufacturers can use the UL Environmental Claim Verification mark in product packaging and marketing materials . Specifically, it includes: bio-based ratio, recyclable material content, rapidly renewable materials , zero waste to landfill, VOC content and other aspects.

 

UL Environmental Product Declaration Mark

UL's Environmental Product Declaration is developed based on the Product Category Rule (PCR) to provide manufacturers with a credible environmental transparency report that includes various environmental information about the product throughout its life cycle ( LCA) , from material selection to post-life treatment.
