What Certification is Required to Export Infant and Toddler Feeding Products to Canada?

Infant and toddler feeding products are designed for feeding food and liquids to infants and toddlers aged four and under. This policy also includes products used for storing and containing infant and toddler food. Examples include: baby bottles, training cups, baby utensils (spoons, forks), breast milk and infant formula storage bags and storage bottles, sippy cups, and snack bowls.

This policy does not include accessories, household appliances, food, and furniture related to infant and toddler feeding, such as: sterilizers, breast pumps and accessories, baby food, baby bottle cleaning supplies, pacifiers, bottle warmers, bottle cooler bags, and high chairs.

Baby Utensils

Infant and toddler utensils (such as spoons and forks) are designed to introduce infants and toddlers to the concept of utensils and self-feeding. Typically, baby utensils feature wider handles proportioned to a baby's hand, and grips designed to prevent their hands from slipping.

Feeding Utensils

Baby bowls and plates help develop motor skills related to eating. Some baby bowls are designed with suction-cup bases; most baby plates feature dividers and high sides to partition food, helping to maximize neatness during the feeding process.

Drinking Utensils

Sippy cups, also known as training cups or beakers, are drinking utensils specifically designed for toddlers to prevent or reduce spills. Compared to open cups, sippy cups have lids to prevent spills, and children can drink from a spout or a straw.

Baby Bottles

An infant baby bottle, nursing bottle, or feeding bottle is a bottle with a teat (nipple) that allows for drinking via sucking. It is typically used by infants, toddlers, or individuals who cannot drink from a cup, and can be used for self-feeding or assisted feeding.

Breast milk and infant formula storage bags are designed to store, freeze/refrigerate, heat, and serve infant formula or breast milk.

Hands-Free Baby Feeding Devices

Hands-free baby feeding devices are specifically designed for infants and toddlers to enable self-feeding with little to no supervision or assistance from a caregiver. The use of hands-free feeding devices may pose serious risks of injury or death due to choking or aspiration pneumonia. Infants cannot control or stop the flow of liquid from the bottle, which means the liquid may flow faster than they can swallow.

• A test report issued by an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory, proving that the product complies with the aforementioned regulations, standards, and requirements.
