First, Understand What UL998 Is

It is the exclusive safety standard for humidifiers in North America. Amazon / Temu / Walmart strictly require reports issued by an ISO17025 laboratory to be valid. It is a mandatory check during CPSC spot inspections. It covers ultrasonic, thermal evaporative, and lithium-battery portable humidifiers; all household and commercial models under 600V must be tested.

UL998 Report Application Process

1. Confirm Product & Prepare Materials

• Prepare Documents: Specifications, circuit diagrams, PCB layout, BOM (Bill of Materials) critical components list, English nameplate, and Plastic UL Yellow Card.

• Samples: 2-3 units for regular models; 8 or more units for lithium battery models (batteries must additionally meet ul1642 / ul2054).

2. Screen for Compliant Laboratories

Look exclusively for institutions with ISO17025 qualifications. Low-cost reports from unqualified labs will be directly rejected by Amazon, which is a complete waste of money.

3. Submit Application & Send Samples

Fill out the authorization form, send the samples to the laboratory, and synchronously verify the compliance of the components and the standardization of the English warning labels on the nameplate.

4. Official UL998 Comprehensive Testing

The standard testing cycle takes 5-7 working days, with expedited results available in 3 days.

Core Testing Items:

• ✅ Electrical: Dielectric withstand voltage, leakage current, grounding, and input power insulation.

• ✅ Thermal Safety: Normal / fault temperature rise, anti-dry burn water shortage protection.

• ✅ Mechanical: 1-meter drop, power cord pull, anti-tip water leakage, and enclosure impact.

• ✅ Environmental: Humidity and rain, short circuit fault simulation, to completely eliminate fire and leakage risks.

5. Issue Passing Report & Platform Listing

Obtain the complete UL998 test report and upload it to the backend for Amazon's review. If the product fails, modify the structure or materials according to the laboratory's rectification plan and submit for a retest.
