With the continuous advancement of technology, more and more lighting products are using button cell batteries as their power source. However, for lighting products sold on Amazon's US site that contain button cell batteries, a series of testing requirements must be met. These requirements mainly come from relevant U.S. regULations and standards to ensure the safety and reliability of the products. This article provides a detailed analysis of the testing requirements for lighting products with button cell batteries on Amazon US.

 Amazon US ANSI C18.3M or 16 CFR Part 1700.15 & 20 Test(图1)

16 CFR 1700.15 Test

16 CFR 1700.15 pertains to the testing requirements for rechargeable button cell batteries, focusing primarily on performance aspects such as overcharge, over-discharge, short circuit, and overcurrent. These tests are designed to ensure that the button cell battery maintains safety performance even under extreme conditions, preventing combustion, explosion, or harm to users. Lighting products using rechargeable button cell batteries must pass the 16 CFR 1700.15 test to be sold safely in the U.S. market.

16 CFR 1700.20 Test

16 CFR 1700.20 outlines the testing requirements for button cell batteries used in portable electronic devices, with a focus on the safety of the battery within the device. The test requirements include mechanical strength, flame resistance, overcharge, and over-discharge performance. Only button cell batteries that pass the 16 CFR 1700.20 test are deemed compliant with the relevant standards and allowed to be installed in portable electronic devices such as lighting products.

ANSI C18.3M test

ANSI C18.3M is a U.S. national standard that specifies safety performance requirements for rechargeable batteries used in portable electronic devices. This standard requires both the battery and the device to undergo a series of rigorous safety tests, including overcharge, over-discharge, short circuit, overcurrent, and temperature tests. Only rechargeable button cell batteries that pass the ANSI C18.3M test can be sold on the market. For lighting products and other portable electronic devices using rechargeable button cell batteries, the ANSI C18.3M test must be passed before they can be legally sold in the U.S. market.

To meet Amazon US’s requirements for lighting products containing button cell batteries, the above three standards must be followed for testing. Only products that pass these tests are consideRED compliant with U.S. market regulations and are eligible for sale. At the same time, this ensures the protection of consumer rights by offering safe and reliable lighting products.
