The mandatory requirements for faucets and showerheads on Amazon US are as follows: DOE energy efficiency registration must be completed for nationwide sales, and cec registration must additionally be completed for sales to California. These two are independent and cannot substitute for each other.

Amazon US Mandatory Requirements

Starting February 18, 2025, Amazon US has updated its plumbing product information policy. All faucets, showerheads, and similar bathroom products on sale must complete DOE energy efficiency certification and register in the CCMS system; otherwise, they will be forcibly removed from the platform.

CEC Certification (California Mandatory)

• Nature: Mandatory certification by the California Energy Commission (CEC). Products must be registered and listed in the MAEDbS database; sales are prohibited in California without registration.

• Kitchen Faucets: ≤ 1.8 GPM (can temporarily increase to 2.2 GPM)

Complete the following operations in your Seller Central:

• Path: Seller Central → Compliance → Manage Product Compliance → Select the corresponding category (Bathroom - Showerheads or Faucets).

• Required Documents: DOE test report, CEC test report, Declaration of Conformity (DoC), CCMS registration number, and MAEDbS registration number.

• Information Filling: Accurately declare energy efficiency information such as flow rate, test pressure, and certification numbers.

• Review Period: Platform review takes about 1-2 business days.

Practical Suggestions

• Dual Certification is Essential: DOE is required for nationwide sales, while CEC must be completed simultaneously to enter the California market. Both are independent and cannot substitute for each other.

• Model Consistency: The model number on the test report, the CCMS/MAEDbS registered model, the product nameplate model, and the Amazon backend SKU model must be completely identical; otherwise, the submission will be directly rejected.

• Testing Period: Sample testing takes about 5-7 business days, and the overall certification cycle is about 3-4 weeks (both can be processed in parallel).

• US Entity Requirement: DOE registration must use the information of a US importer or a compliant US Authorized Representative; non-US/Chinese companies cannot operate this directly.

• Retesting for Product Changes: If core components are replaced or parameters are changed, the product must be retested and the registration updated accordingly.
