Baby sleep products refer to items sold in the market that provide a sleeping place for infants under 12 months old. They must have:
- Horizontal sleep surface(inclined no more than 10°)
- Sides made of rigid, mesh, or padded materials
1. Cradle Beds and Cradles
- Portable beds suitable for newborns up to approximately 4 months
- Usually have flexible mesh sides
- Cradle beds have fixed legs/wheels; cradles can rock
2. Cribs and Toddler Beds
- Small beds for infants with rigid railings or slats on the sides
- Often convertible into toddler beds, day beds, single beds, or double beds
3. Co-Sleepers / Bedside Cribs
- Side-mounted cribs fixed to adult beds with a rigid frame
- Usually one side is lower for easier parental access
- Most can convert into cradles or playpens
4. Baby Playpens
- Also known as play yards, folding cribs, or portable playpens
- Framed enclosures with mesh or fabric sides, portable and foldable
- May include accessories like cradles, changing pads, or hanging toys
5. Baby Mattresses
- Specifically designed and sized to fit cribs, toddler beds, or playpens
6. Other Baby Sleep Products
- Products with horizontal sleeping surfaces (≤10°), such as:
- Structured bassinets
- Baby boxes
- Compact cradles or travel cradles
- Moses baskets
- Baby travel beds or tents
All baby sleep products must be tested and comply with one of the following standards(if applicable):
- EN 1130:2019 – Furniture – Cribs and Cradles
- EN 12227:2010 – Furniture – Playpens and Folding Playpens
- EN 16890:2017+A1:2021 – Children’s Furniture – Toddler Beds and Crib Mattresses – Safety Requirements and Test Methods
- EN 1466:2019 – Childcare Articles – Portable Cribs and Stands
The product detail page must include:
1. Model, part number, or product number
2. Manufacturer or brand name
3. Age grading listed on the product detail page must matchthe age grading on the test report
4. Hazard warnings
5. Instructions for use
Applicable warning statements (hazard warnings) must appear on the product detail page.
- Test reports issued by a recognized EU or UK laboratory or global subsidiaries, certifying compliance with the above regulations, standards, and requirements.
- Model, part number, or product number
- Name and address of the manufacturer, importer, distributor, or authorized representative
- Brand name or registered trademark
