Amazon has introduced a new “Direct Verification”requirement for children’s toy products.
This policy requires sellers to complete annual compliance verificationthrough Amazon-approved third-party testing, inspection, and certification (TIC)agencies.
Beginning in September, Amazon started notifying affected sellers.
Failure to complete verification within the requiRED time may resULt in product delistingand sales suspension.
Children’s toys are products designed for use by children under 14 years oldduring learning or play.
A product is considered a “children’s toy” if it meets any of the following criteria:
1. The age gradingon the product packaging indicates that it is intended for children under 14 years old.
2. The product’s packaging, display, promotion, or advertisingshows it is suitable for children under 14.
3. Consumers would reasonably assumethe product is intended for children under 14.
All children’s toys sold on Amazon Europe must be tested and certified in compliance with the following laws, regulations, and standards:
- For all children’s toys:
- EN 71 — Toy Safety
- For electrical children’s toys:
- EN 71 — Toy Safety
- EN 62115 — Electric Toy Safety
You must fulfill the following compliance obligations to sell children’s toys on Amazon Europe:
1. Product Detail Page Requirements
2. Image Requirements
3. Compliance Documentation
Your product detail page must include:
- Model number, part number, or product identifier
- Manufacturer or brand name
- Mandatory safety warnings
- Manufacturer’s recommended minimum age (in months) or manufacturer’s minimum age (in months)
The minimum age listed on your product detail page must be equal to or greater thanthe age rating indicated in the testing report.
For example, if your toy has been tested and approved for children aged 36 months and above, then your product page must list 36 months or higheras the minimum age.
Product images must clearly display:
- Model number, part number, or product identifier
- Name and address of the manufacturer, importer, private label owner, distributor, or authorized representative
- Brand name, address, or registered trademark
- Product label and markings
- Compliance marks (e.g., CE mark)
- Hazard and warning labels
- Product instructions and user manuals
You must submit your product for verification through an Amazon-approved Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC)provider.
You may choose to:
- Have your product testedby the TIC provider, or
- Have the provider verify your existing test documentation.
If you choose document verification, your testing documentation must meet the following criteria:
- Issued by an ISO 17025-accredited laboratory
- Test reports must confirm compliance with all applicable standards, including:
- EN 71 — Toy Safety
- EN 62115 — Electric Toy Safety (for electrical toys)
To remain compliant and avoid delisting, ensure that your children’s toy products:
1. Are tested according to EN 71(and EN 62115if applicable).
2. Have complete and accurate product detail pages and images.
3. Possess valid and verifiable test documentation from an ISO 17025-accredited lab.
4. Complete annual compliance verificationthrough Amazon’s approved TIC providers.
