Introduction to Brazil Wireless Communication Product Certification - ANATEL

1. Overview of ANATEL

ANATEL (Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações) was established in 1997. It is primarily responsible for approving telecommunication products to ensure they meet quality, safety standards, and specified technical performance requirements. All products that transmit radio frequencies, connect to the public telephone network, or use lithium batteries in telecommunication applications must obtain approval from this agency. (1) Pre-testing

①　Conducted at JJR LAB in accordance with Brazil's testing requirements

(2) Submit Application and Send Prototypes

①　Submit application documents and send product prototypes

(3) Local Testing

①　Conducted at local laboratories in Brazil

(4) OCD Review, Registration and Submission

①　After reviewing the test report, OCD issues the Certificate of Conformity (COC) and uploads the relevant documents to the ANATEL official website to apply for the registration certificate

(5) ANATEL Certificate Issuance

①　Once the certificate is issued, clients print the ID number on the product or its nameplate

3. Certification Marking and Requirements

The ANATEL certification certificate number (ID number) must be mandatorily printed on the product itself or its nameplate; the anatel logo is optional for co-printing. For mobile phones and their accessories, importers are required to purchase specific marks for affixation on the products.
