Certification Requirements

Electrical products must be certified according to the Canadian Electrical Code (cec) published by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). Provinces and territories across Canada have incorporated the Canadian Electrical Code into their respective laws and regulations. The code mandates that electrical equipment must be approved by a certification body recognized by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC). In addition to the Canadian Electrical Code, individual provinces have additional regulations, such as:

- Ontario's Electricity Act, 1998, and its product safety regulations

- British Columbia's Safety Standards Act, and its electrical safety regulations

Amazon's Compliance Requirements for Electrical Products

Amazon requires that all electrical products be tested and must comply with applicable regulations or standards. Below are some common electrical products and their requiRED standards:

Required Product Information on Amazon Listings

Your product detail page must include the following:

- Model, part number, or product number

- Manufacturer or brand name

- Certification body that approved the product

Required Compliance Documentation

To meet CAN/CSA 22.2 standards, sellers must provide one of the following:

1. A test report or certificate from a Standards Council of Canada-recognized certification body, proving compliance with CSA C22.2 or UL standards.

2. An Amazon Declaration Form, listing the product number/model, which appears in a recognized certification body's database, showing compliance with CSA C22.2 or UL standards.

Required Image Documentation for Compliance

- Model, part number, or product number

- Name and address of the manufacturer, importer, distributor, or authorized representative

- Brand name or registered trademark

- Product label and packaging

- Compliance marks and certification labels

- Unauthorized video game bundles, such as "Xbox 360 Core Bundle with 2 Controllers and 2 Games".

- DVD copiers that bypass copyright protection.

- RefurBIShed or region-disabled Blu-ray players.

- Cell phone unlocking devices.

- Phones with invalid electronic serial numbers (ESN).

- MICro SIM cards cut from standard-sized SIM cards.

- Restricted streaming media players:

- Amazon ensures that streaming players are compatible with Prime Video, an essential part of Amazon Prime.

- Cylindrical lithium-ion batteries (14500, 16340, 18650, 20700, 21700, and 26650), including products containing these batteries (even if not built-in).
