Note:This standard does notapply to children's dining sets, study chairs, or toy chairs.

 

Key Safety Requirements

The standard outlines specifications related to dimensions, materials, structure, stability, and safety features, including but not limited to the following:

 

1. Stability Requirements

The high chair must be stable enough to prevent tipping or toppling during use. Stability tests should be conducted under various height and tilt configurations to ensure compliance.

 

2. Strength of Seat and Armrests

The seat and armrests must be strong and durable enough to withstand the child’s weight and any impact during use. These components should be tested at multiple height and tilt angles to verify strength.

 

3. Design and Use of Safety Harness

The chair should be equipped with a safety harness to prevent the child from slipping or falling off. The harness must be strong and durable enough to withstand the child’s weight and dynamic movement. It must meet design requirements outlined in the standard and include clear usage instructions.

 

4. Safety of Movable Parts

Any movable components, such as adjustable seats or foldable armrests, must be designed to prevent injury during use. These parts must also undergo testing at various positions to verify their safety performance.

 

ISO 9221-1:2015 sets out the international safety requirements for children's high chairs.
