Update time : 2025-03-25

Selling electronic and electrical equipment in the UK market requires adherence to a series of regulations covering product safety, electromagnetic compatibility, and restrictions on hazardous substances.

Products sold on TEMU must comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and TEMU policies. Recently, TEMU updated its compliance guidelines for electronic and electrical products sold to the UK.

This article outlines the UK compliance requirements for sellers, focusing on guidelines applicable to Great Britain (England, Wales, and Scotland) for reference.

ukca Mark: Roles and Responsibilities of Manufacturers

According to the UK Government’s UKCA Marking: Roles and Responsibilities Guide, manufacturers must fulfill the following obligations before placing their products on the Great Britain market:

1. Ensure Compliance with Applicable Regulations

 - Ensure that products comply with all relevant UK regulations and designated standards.

 - Design and manufacture products according to the essential requirements of applicable regulations.

2. Conduct Conformity Assessment

 - Choose an appropriate conformity assessment procedure (self-assessment or mandatory third-party assessment).

 - Ensure that products undergo necessary testing and evaluation to meet regulatory requirements.

3. Prepare Technical Documentation

 - Compile and maintain technical documentation demonstrating product compliance.

 - This documentation should cover product design, manufacturing methods, etc.

 - Generally, it must be kept for 10 years, as specified by applicable laws.

4. Provide a Declaration of Conformity

 - The declaration must include manufacturer details, product identification information, applicable laws and regulations, and (if applicable) details of the approved conformity assessment body.

5. Affix the UKCA Mark

 - After completing the conformity assessment, affix the UKCA mark to the product or its packaging.

 - The mark must be clearly visible, legible, and indelible.

6. Product Labeling Requirements

 - Manufacturers must mark the product with their name, registered trade name, or registered trademark and postal address.

 - The product must also include other identifiers such as model, batch, or serial number for traceability.

TEMU Compliance Guidelines

3. Compliance Markings

 - UKCA Mark: The UK’s official compliance marking, replacing the CE mark. It signifies compliance with UK regulations and authorizes sale in the UK market.

ComplianCE certification Requirements

01. UK Authorized Representative (UK Rep)

A UK Authorized Representative (UK Rep) is required for products with the UKCA mark. This individual or entity, based in the UK, represents non-UK sellers in fulfilling regulatory obligations and acts as a liaison with authorities in case of compliance issues.

Once a UK Rep is designated, sellers must:

- VAT registration, filing, and payment are mandatory for compliance.

TEMU requires all sellers to provide a valid VAT number for business operations in these regions.

Conclusion

TEMU's compliance requirements for electronic and electrical products are becoming increasingly stringent, covering material safety, packaging integrity, warning labels, certification marks, and labeling regulations.
