US 16 CFR 1263 & UL 4200A-2023 Testing Lab

On September 21, 2023, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued 16 cfr part 1263, a regULation for button or coin batteries and consumer products containing such batteries . The final rule of the regulation adopts the voluntary standard ANSI/UL 4200a-2023 as the mandatory safety standard for button or coin batteries and consumer products containing such batteries, and it will officially take effect on March 19, 2024. 16CFR Part 1263 and ansi/ul 4200a-2023 have the following requirements for consumer products containing button batteries or coin batteries:

1. Battery compartments containing replaceable button cells or coin cells must be secuRED so that they require a tool or at least two separate and independent actions to open.

2. Button batteries or coin batteries must not be accessible to children during normal use or abuse testing.

3. The product packaging must carry a warning.

4. If applicable, the product itself must carry a warning.

5. The accompanying instruction manual must include all applicable warnings.
