These two parts of the IEC 62680 series define different but complementary aspects of USB Type-C technology:
1. IEC 62680-1-3focuses on the specifications of USB Type-C cables and connectors. It outlines physical and electrical characteristics such as connector dimensions, pin layout, and current-carrying capacity.
2. IEC 62680-1-2defines the USB Power Delivery (USB PD) protocol. It covers communication protocols for power negotiation, current control, and power modes.
1. For fast chargingdevices (rated above 5V, 3A, or 15W): compliance with both EN IEC 62680-1-2and EN IEC 62680-1-3is required.
2. For standard chargingdevices (rated below 5V, 3A, or 15W): compliance with EN IEC 62680-1-3alone is sufficient.
