What is TRA certification/TDRA certification?

Radio and telecommunications equipment must be registeRED and approved by the Telecommunications RegULatory Authority (TRA) to be sold or distributed in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The TRA is responsible for market approval of radio technical products in the United Arab Emirates. Only with such certification can manufacturers distribute their products in the United Arab Emirates.

TRA refers to the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, abbreviated as the UAE's telecommunications regulatory authority. Established in accordance with Federal Law No. 3 of 2003 on the organization of the telecommunications sector, the TRA is the regulatory authority for the telecommunications and information technology sector in the UAE. The TRA has formulated type approval regulations and a type approval manual. According to Article 3 of the type approval regulations, wireless devices used, sold, displayed in the UAE must be licensed by the TRA.

   2. Send samples for testing (if CE certification is not applied for), and submit documentation.

What documents are required for TRA certification application?

How long is the validity period of TRA certification and how long does the application process take?

   Type approval certificate: 3 years

   Dealer registration certificate: 5 years

   If CE certification has been obtained, the application process takes 2-3 weeks. If CE certification has not been obtained, and CE-RED testing is required, the time increases by 1 week.
