Recently, the compliance review mechanism for lithium batteries and products containing lithium batteries on the Amazon US marketplace has undergone a major upgrade—TIC Direct Validation (DV) has officially become a mandatory requirement.
This means that sellers can no longer upload test reports on their own; instead, qualified Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) organizations must submit compliance documents directly to Amazon. This move will further enhance the platform's safety control over high-risk products and imposes higher requirements on sellers' compliance preparations.
DV (Direct Validation): A direct validation mechanism launched by Amazon for specific high-risk product categories. Compliance proofs must be directly provided and uploaded to the platform by TIC organizations; ordinary documents submitted by sellers themselves are no longer accepted.
TIC (Testing, Inspection, Certification): Refers to third-party professional organizations with testing, inspection, and certification qualifications, responsible for confirming whether products meet relevant safety standards and regulatory requirements.
ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number): A unique identification code assigned by Amazon to each product. Compliance documents must strictly correspond to the ASIN.
Amazon requires that all lithium battery products (including built-in, bundled, or standalone batteries) must comply with US federal regulations, industry safety standards, and the platform's latest policies. The requirements apply if any of the following standards are met:
ul 2054 (Standard for Household and Commercial Batteries)
ul 1642 (Standard for Lithium Batteries / Cells)
ul 62133 (Portable devices containing lithium batteries)
iec 62133 (International standard, needs to be used in conjunction with US regulations)
Tip: It is recommended to consult JJR LAB testing engineers regarding the applicability of specific standards to avoid review failure caused by selecting the wrong standard.
Amazon requires sellers to clearly and completely display the following content on the product detail page and relevant information modules:
Model, part number, or item number;
Name and address of the manufacturer, importer, distributor, or authorized representative;
Product labels and compliance marks (e.g., UL, CE, etc.);
Product instructions, manuals, and safety information;
Hazard warning statements;
If it is a set or bundle, images must be provided separately for each item in it.
Amazon has imposed stricter restrictions on the source and content of test reports:
(No specific text content provided in the original text)
Amazon requires sellers to provide clear, authentic, multi-angle images of the product or packaging, which must include the following information:
Model, part number, or item number
Name and address of the manufacturer, importer, distributor, or authorized representative
Product label
Product instructions and manuals
Compliance marks (e.g., UL, CE, etc.)
Hazard warning statements
Tip: Blurry or incomplete images, or images that are inconsistent with the tested product or detail page, will lead to review delays or even rejection.
With the full implementation of the DV mechanism, the era of sellers uploading reports themselves has ended. We recommend that you:
Confirm whether your product falls under the scope of lithium battery control and determine the applicable standards;
Select a laboratory with ISO 17025 qualifications (such as JJR LAB) for testing;
Entrust the TIC organization to submit compliance documents directly to Amazon to ensure data authenticity and traceability;
Synchronously check product images, labels, and manuals to ensure language and content compliance.
JJR LAB has extensive global compliance experience with lithium battery products. The laboratory has obtained ISO 17025 accreditation and can provide you with:
Standard testing for lithium batteries such as UL 2054 / UL 1642 / UL 62133
TIC Direct Validation (DV) integration services
Compliance guidance for product images and manuals
Analysis of Amazon review rejection reasons and appeal support
Contact JJR LAB immediately to lock in your compliance path in advance and avoid the risk of listing removal.
