The CPSC has established a series of safety standards and regulations to ensure the safety of various consumer products during use. These regulations cover product design, performance, labeling, and warning requirements, among other aspects.
- Toys and Children’s Products: Must meet ASTM F963 standards and other specific standards (e.g., lead content limits).
- Electronics and Appliances: Must comply with CPSC's electrical safety standards.
- Furniture and Home Décor: Includes fire safety standards (e.g., 16 CFR Part 1633 for mattress flammability).
- Sports and Recreational Equipment: Items such as bicycles, skateboards, helmets, etc., must meet specific safety standards (e.g., 16 CFR Part 1512 for bicycles).
- Household Goods: Includes smoke alarms, portable heaters, etc., which must comply with relevant safety regulations.

1. Preparation Phase:
- Gather and prepare technical documentation and test reports related to the product.
2. Testing Phase:
- Conduct product testing at an accredited laboratory to ensure it meets CPSC Standards.
3. Submission Phase:
- Complete the relevant application forms and submit the test reports and product information to the CPSC.
4. Review Phase:
- The CPSC will review the submitted documents and test reports, and may request additional information or further testing if necessary.
5. Approval and Certification:
- Once the CPSC confirms that the product complies with the relevant standards, a compliance certificate will be issued.
