RoHS is a mandatory standard established by European Union legislation. Its full name is the Directive on the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (RoHS). The directive officially came into effect on July 1, 2006. It aims to regulate the material composition and technical specifications of electronic and electrical products, enhancing protection for human health and the environment.
The RoHS directive seeks to eliminate the use of the following ten hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products:
Lead (Pb)
Mercury (Hg)
Cadmium (Cd)
Hexavalent chromium (Cr⁶⁺)
Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB)
Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE)
Four types of phthalates
Special attention is given to lead content, which must not exceed 0.1%.

1. Application
Fill out the ROHS Testing application form (available from JJR Laboratory) and return the completed form.
2. Quotation and Sample Submission
After applying, send product samples to JJR Laboratory. The lab will disassemble them as required and provide feedback on the number of test components and testing duration.
3. Payment and Testing
Testing will begin once payment is received. Most tests are completed within one week.
4. Report Delivery
The RoHS test report can be delivered by courier, fax, email, or collected in person.

RoHS certification is essential for products entering the EU market. Even beyond legally mandated categories, RoHS Compliance demonstrates a product’s environmental safety. Products containing banned substances cannot obtain RoHS certification and are unlikely to gain market acceptance. Therefore, RoHS is not only a technical standard but also a key competitive advantage in international trade.
