EN 581-1: 2017 Outdoor Furniture - Seating and Tables for Camping, Domestic, and Contract Use Part 1: General Safety Requirements

EN 581-1: 2017 specifies general safety requirements for outdoor seating and tables used for camping, domestic, and contract purposes. 

EN 581-1: 2017 does not apply to removable decorative elements, coverings, and permanently fixed furniture.

EN 581-2: 2015-AC-2016 Outdoor Furniture — Seating and Tables for Camping, Domestic, and Contract Use - Part 2: Mechanical Safety Requirements and Test Methods for Seating

EN 581-2: 2015 specifies minimum safety, strength, and durability requirements for all types of outdoor seating for adULts, regardless of material, design/structure, or manufacturing process. 

EN 581-2: 2015 does not apply to street furniture, removable decorative elements, or coverings. 

EN 581-2: 2015 does not include durability requirements for casters/wheels and height adjustment mechanisms. 

EN 581-2: 2015 does not include electrical safety requirements. 

EN 581-2: 2015 does not include requirements for resistance to aging and degradation caused by light, temperature, and moisture. 

The testing requirements of EN 581-2: 2015 are based on usage by individuals weighing no more than 110 kg.

EN 581-3: 2017 Outdoor Furniture - Seating and Tables for Camping, Domestic, and Contract Use Part 3: Mechanical Safety Requirements and Test Methods for Tables

EN 581-3 specifies the mechanical safety requirements and test methods for outdoor tables used by adults for camping, domestic, and contract use, regardless of material, design/structure, or manufacturing process. 

EN 581-3 does not apply to outdoor furniture that may require higher standards for severe contract use, nor does it apply to street furniture and furniture permanently fixed to the ground/walls.

ASTM F 1561-03 (R 2014) Plastic Chairs for Outdoor Use

ASTM F 1561-03 establishes nationally recognized performance requirements for Class A (residential) and Class B (non-residential) plastic chairs used outdoors. 

ASTM F 1561-03 does not apply to lounge chairs, multi-position chairs, upholsteRED chairs, or other types of furniture. 

ASTM F 1561-03 covers the physical performance of the product, including outdoor weathering, impact, static load, and rear leg tests.

NF D 61-062/A1: 2019 Outdoor Furniture - Adjustable Deck Chairs (Chilienne) - General Safety Requirements - Mechanical Tests and Requirements

NF D 61-062/A1: 2019 establishes nationally recognized performance requirements for Class A (residential) and Class B (non-residential) plastic chairs used outdoors. 

NF D 61-062/A1: 2019 does not apply to lounge chairs, multi-position chairs, upholstered chairs, or other types of furniture. 

NF D 61-062/A1: 2019 covers the physical performance of the product, including outdoor weathering, impact, static load, and rear leg tests.

CEN/TR 581-4: 2005 Outdoor Furniture – Seating and Tables for Camping, Domestic, and Contract Use – Part 4: Requirements and Test Methods for Durability Under the Influence of Climatic Conditions

CEN/TR 581-4 specifies the requirements and test methods for determining the structural and surface treatment durability of outdoor furniture used by adults for camping, domestic, and contract use, regardless of material, design/structure, or manufacturing process. 

CEN/TR 581-4 also specifies requirements that cover safety hazards arising from weathering (especially UV exposure) effects on plastic materials. 

CEN/TR 581-4 introduces a consumer information label specifying various durability grades. 

CEN/TR 581-4 does not apply to:

- Surface resistance specifications to cheMICal and mechanical stress

- Outdoor furniture for severe contract use, which may require higher standards

- Permanently fixed outdoor furniture, street furniture

- Removable decorative elements and coverings

- Audience facilities

- Severe contract use

UL-4041-2022 Outline of Investigation for Outdoor Furniture

UL-4041-2022 specifies the structural and testing requirements for outdoor patio furniture, such as tables, tables with umbrellas, chairs, multi-seat products, love seats, benches, swing chairs, or chaise lounges.

ASTM F 1838-2019 Adults and Children's Plastic Chairs for Outdoor Use

ASTM F 1838-2019 establishes nationally recognized performance requirements for children's plastic chairs used outdoors for Class A (residential) and Class B (non-residential) use. 

ASTM F 1838-2019 does not apply to lounge chairs, multi-position chairs, upholstered chairs, or other types of furniture. 

ASTM F 1838-2019 covers the product's performance in outdoor weathering, impact, static load, and rear leg tests.
