Japan J-MOSS, also known as Japan RoHS, stands for The Marking for presence Of the Specific Chemical Substances for electrical and electronic equipment. Its name is derived from the Japanese standard JIS C 0950, The marking for presence of the specific chemical substances for electrical and electronic equipment.
The new Japan J-MOSS standard JIS C0950:2021 officially came into effect on March 22, 2021, replacing the older version JIS C 0950:2008.
Japan J-MOSS regulates 6 hazardous substances. The concentration limits in homogeneous materials are identical to the original EU RoHS directive, and it currently does not regulate the 4 phthalates (phthalate esters).
J-MOSS features two types of graphical markings. These markings must be printed on the product itself, outer packaging, and product catalogs. The minimum width of the mark must be ≥ 15 mm.

If all homogeneous materials in the product meet the concentration limits for all 6 substances, the enterprise may voluntarily apply the Green G Mark, indicating that the product complies with J-MOSS substance requirements.

If any homogeneous material in the product exceeds the limit for any regulated substance, the Orange R Mark must be applied. The chemical symbols of the exceeding substances (e.g., Pb, Cd) must be indicated adjacent to the mark.
