UL 1278 is the standard for movable wall-mounted or ceiling-hung indoor electric heaters applicable to heaters with a rated voltage not exceeding 600V
It does not apply to fixed heaters duct heaters or central heating furnaces

The new UL 1278 standard introduces additional warning statements and labels to address surface overheating risks during normal heater operation However this requirement does not apply to products with a rated power below 850W excluding 850W

- 67 13 and 67 14 Household heaters excluding ceiling-mounted models must include overheating hazard warning statements which should be permanently marked on the front of the product in a visible position
- 67 25 Products with a rated power greater than 850W must have an additional hangtag with overheating hazard warnings.
