What is the UL 982 Test Report?

UL 982 is a safety standard developed by Underwriters Laboratories Inc., mainly applicable to electric household food preparation machines, such as juicers, food blenders, hand-held electric egg beaters, etc. This standard aims to evaluate the product’s electrical safety, mechanical safety, and material safety, ensuring that users are protected from risks such as electric shock, fire, and mechanical injury during use.

This test report is one of the important documents proving that the product complies with relevant safety standards and regulations in the US market. For platforms like Amazon, it is a mandatory entry requirement for relevant products. Products without a valid report may face delisting or even account suspension.

What are the Main Test Items of UL 982?

The UL 982 standard ensures product safety through a series of strict tests from multiple dimensions. The main test items can be summarized into the following categories:

How Long is the UL 982 Test Lead Time?

①　Normal Lead Time: If the test passes on the first attempt and complete documentation is prepaRED, the entire process usually takes 5–10 working days.

②　Influencing Factors: The actual lead time is affected by sample delivery time, laboratory scheduling, and most importantly, whether the test passes. If problems are found during testing that require rectification and resampling for retesting, the lead time will be extended accordingly.

Therefore, sellers are advised to plan in advance and allow sufficient time for possible rectification, so as to avoid missing peak sales seasons due to certification delays.

How to Obtain the UL 982 Test Report?

1. Select a Compliant Laboratory: Contact and entrust a third-party testing institution with ISO 17025 accreditation and market recognition. This is the key first step to ensure the report is accepted by platforms such as Amazon.

2. Submit Application & Documents: Fill in the test application form and provide detailed product technical documents, including: product manual, circuit schematic, bill of materials (BOM), technical specification sheet, etc.

3. Send Test Samples: Prepare 1–2 complete product samples (including all accessories) that are fully consistent with the final mass production status as required by the laboratory, and send them to the laboratory.

4. Payment & Testing: After confirming the quotation and paying the fee, the laboratory will conduct a comprehensive test on the samples in accordance with the UL 982 standard.

5. Report Review & Issuance: After the test is passed, the laboratory will issue a draft report for you to verify the information. Upon confirmation, the laboratory will issue the official PDF version of the ul test report.
