How to get for Wireless CE Certification?

Update time : 2026-01-26

Wireless CE certification generally refers to CE-RED certification, which is the Radio Equipment Directive of the European Union, abbreviated as RED. The red directive is mainly formulated to clarify the scope of spectrum use, improve the efficiency of spectrum utilization, and facilitate the enforcement of regulations and market supervision among member states.

Wireless CE certification is targeted at radio and telecommunication terminal equipment. A wireless product must obtain CE certification before it can be legally sold in EU countries.

Scope of Wireless Products Requiring CE-RED Certification

1. Short-range device (SRD) products, e.g., remote-controlled toy cars, remote-controlled alarm systems, remote-controlled doorbells, remote-controlled switches, remote-controlled mice, and keyboards.

2. Professional mobile radio (PMR) products, e.g., professional two-way radios and wireless microphones.

3. Cordless telephones (CT0, CT1, CT1+, etc.).

4. ISDN (digital telephone products).

5. DECT (enhanced digital cordless telephones).

6. Mobile phone GSM and CDMA testing.

7. Bluetooth products, e.g., Bluetooth headsets.

8. Inductive data transmission equipment operating at a frequency < 9 kHz.

9. Wireless broadcast receiver equipment.

Wireless CE-RED Testing Items

1. Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing.

2. low voltage directive (LVD) testing (under the new directive, this test is also required for RF products powered by batteries).

3. Radio communication equipment testing (RF testing) in accordance with European ETSI standards.

4. Notification of information on EU-approved frequency spectrum.

5. CTR (TBR) testing.

6. Electrical safety and health protection testing (SAR evaluation).

ATS Full Testing & Inspection is equipped with a complete set of emc testing equipment.

Application Documents for Wireless CE-RED Certification

1. User manual

2. Circuit schematic diagram

3. Block diagram (also called module function diagram)

4. PCB layout (circuit wiring diagram)

5. PCB placement (circuit component location diagram)

6. Operational description (explanation of the block diagram)

7. Bill of materials (BOM LIST)

8. Product label

9. Antenna specifications (or antenna gain chart)

10. Charger LVD test report

11. Frequency-fixed software (also called frequency-fixed program, which enables the transmitting module to continuously transmit at a specific frequency point; generally mandatory for BT and WIFI products)

In addition to RED certification, wireless products for CE certification generally also require EMC and lvd testing. The cost is subject to evaluation based on the specific product and its functions. JJR LAB operates a large-scale electronic and electrical laboratory. It provides one-stop services for wireless CE certification and can directly issue certificates upon the successful passing of product tests.
