Safety standards refer to specifications for product safety. They provide clear definitions and guidelines for manufactuRED devices and electrical components, ensuring that end users receive safe and high-quality products. Their primary purpose is to prevent human injuries caused by electric shock, energy hazards, fire, mechanical and heat hazards, radiation hazards, cheMICal hazards, and other risks. Safety testing is mainly conducted to evaluate products against electrical safety requirements, covering electric shock, fire, mechanical hazards, energy radiation, etc.
Audio/Video, Information and Communication Technology Equipment - Part 1: Safety Requirements
• IEC 62368-1:2018+COR.1:2020
• EN 62368-1:2020+A11:2020
• AS/NZS 62368.1:2017
• ul 62368-1
The updated IEC 62368 standard is widely applicable to a variety of high-tech products, including:
• Electrical and electronic equipment
• Audio and video products
• Information technology products
• Commercial office automation equipment with a voltage rating not exceeding 600V
• Power supply products
• Servers, monitors, televisions
• Laptops, personal computers, and computer peripherals
1. Withstand Voltage Test
Apply a test voltage between the primary and secondary circuits of the product for 1 minute:
① 3 kV for Class II products
② 1.5 kV for Class I products
2. InsULation Resistance Test
Use a 500 VDC insulation megohmmeter to measure the resistance between the primary and secondary circuits:
① Minimum insulation resistance of 4 MΩ for Class II products
② Minimum insulation resistance of 2 MΩ for Class I products
3. Touch Current Test
The touch current of the product must comply with the following limits:
① Not exceeding 0.5 mA for Class II products
② Not exceeding 0.75 mA for Class I products
4. Input Power Test
This test serves two core purposes:
① Verify that the rated power marked on the product label matches the measured value
② Use the measured input power data to set up the temperature rise test
5. Temperature Rise Test
Includes normal operation temperature rise test and abnormal operation temperature rise test. Key monitored points are:
① Product housing, accessible parts (e.g., switches and buttons)
② Power cords, transformers, circuit boards, electrolytic capacitors, etc.
6. Grounding Resistance Test
Exclusively applicable to Class I products with grounding wires:
① Pass a 25 A current through the grounding wire
② Measure the voltage across both ends of the wire
③ Calculated grounding resistance must be less than 0.1 Ω
