Lighting Inmetro Certification Process in Brazil

Inmetro Certification Process  

1. Factory Audit:  

   - You can choose to have a local auditor in Brazil conduct the factory audit.  

   - Alternatively, you can use auditors in your country who have contracts with Brazilian OCPs (Certification Bodies).  

2. Sample Testing:  

   - Sample testing can be done in local laboratories that meet Brazilian testing standards.  

   - Samples can also be sent to Brazil for testing.  

Key Points of Inmetro Certification  

1. Inmetro does not accept cb certifications or recognize CB schemes.  

2. Before certification, ensure the laboratory issuing the safety reports has signed an MRA (Mutual Recognition Agreement) with the Inmetro issuing body (OCP).  

3. IEC reports must include the ILAC logo (e.g., ISO/IEC 17025 or CNAS).  

4. The certificate holder for Inmetro must be a local Brazilian company.  

5. Starting from the second year after the certificate is issued, annual factory audits are requiRED.  

Sample Selection for Inmetro Certification of Bulbs  

- For a single series, safety and emc testing require one sample per five models, while energy efficiency testing requires one sample per model.  

Example:  

- Case 1:  

  A series with three models:  

  - Safety/EMC: 1 sample  

  - Energy efficiency: 3 samples  

- Case 2:  

  A series with seven models:  

  - Safety/EMC: 2 samples  

  - Energy efficiency: 7 samples  

Selection Rules:  

- For 0-5 models in a series: test the highest power sample for safety and EMC.  

- For 6-10 models in a series: test the highest and second-highest power samples.  

- For 11-15 models in a series: test the highest, second-highest, and third-highest power samples.
