Large Quantities of Appliances over 700W Will Soon Be Removed!
Amazon, eBay, and other platforms have issued final notices: electrical appliances exceeding 700W that lack a valid safety certification from recognized Japanese organizations and a PSE diamond mark will face product removal and withholding of funds. This has already led to the removal of products certified by other laboratories, affecting many sellers on the platform.

PSE certification is a mandatory safety certification in Japan, confirming that electrical and electronic products comply with the safety standards set by Japan’s DENAN Law (Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law) or international IEC standards. According to Japan’s DENTORL Law (Electrical Device and Material Control Law), 506 products must pass this safety certification before entering the Japanese market.
PSE certification markings vary depending on the type of product. Specific electrical products and materials must display a diamond-shaped mark, while non-specific products require a circULar mark. Products such as general electrical equipment components or associated machinery, appliances, batteries, etc., without a PSE label or with an invalid label are prohibited from sale or display in Japan.
This regulation affects appliances over 700W that must bear the PSE diamond mark, primarily including:
- Wires, wiring devices, current limiters, transformers, ballasts, heating appliances, electrically poweRED machines, AC electrical appliances, portable generators, other AC machinery, electrical conduits, small AC motors, light sources and related appliances, storage batteries, and more.

For items specifically under the Electrical Appliance Safety Law, such as DC power supplies, switches and outlets, electric water heaters, power cords and plugs, and transformers for household appliances (AC-AC power products), among a total of 165 products, PSE diamond marking is mandatory.
It is important to note that only reports issued by laboratories recognized on the Japanese approved list are accepted for platform approval. This has led to the removal of many products with certification from other institutions. Testing products takes time, and to avoid delays in sales and associated losses due to product removal, China’s JJR Laboratory recommends that sellers of these product types prepare in advance, even if their products have not yet been flagged.
For further questions or inquiries, please REACH out to staff at JJR Laboratory in China for assistance.
