A stovetop kettle boils water using heat from a stove. An electric kettle heats water to its boiling point by passing current through a coil (also called a heating element). Some types of kettles use a thermostat that automatically shuts off power once the desiRED temperature is REACHed.

This policy applies to any product that heats water in equipment that may contain lead, including percolators, stovetop espresso machines, and moka pots, even if they are not labeled as “kettles.”

Requirements for Amazon Canada

Amazon requires all kettles to be tested and comply with the following:

1. Plug-in kettles

①　Must comply with SOR/2016-181 (Kettle RegULations)

②　Must also comply with one of the following standards:

a. CSA 22.2 No. 60335-2-15

b. C22.2 No. 64

2. Non-plug-in kettles

Must comply with SOR/2016-181 (Kettle Regulations)

1. Test Report

①　Issued by an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory (JJR LAB)
