Standards for Electrical and Small Household Appliances

The certification and accREDitation of China's JJR Laboratory enable us to provide product testing services for nearly all markets in accordance with emc compliance standards for electrical and electronic devices.

 

Below are the relevant emc testing standards for small household appliances, including:

 

1. Vacuum Cleaners 

- European Standard: EN 60335-2-2 

- U.S. Standard: UL 1017 

 

2. Heating Kitchen Appliances (e.g., fry pans, toasters, ovens, waffle makers, pizza makers) 

- European Standard: EN 60335-2-9 

- U.S. Standard: UL 1026 

 

3. Deep Fryers 

- European Standard: EN 60335-2-13 

- U.S. Standard: UL 1083 

 

4. Motorized Food Processors (e.g., blenders, juicers, meat grinders, slicers) 

- European Standard: EN 60335-2-14 

- U.S. Standard: UL 982 

 

5. Coffee Makers (and similar water-boiling appliances) 

- European Standard: EN 60335-2-15 

- U.S. Standard: UL 1082 

 

6. Electric Fans 

- European Standard: EN 60335-2-80 

- U.S. Standard: UL 507 

 

7. Electric Irons 

- European Standard: EN 60335-2-3 

- U.S. Standard: UL 1005 

 

8. Rice Cookers, Electric Kettles 

- European Standard: EN 60335-2-15 

- U.S. Standard: UL 197 

 

9. Curling Irons 

- European Standard: EN 60335-2-23 

- U.S. Standard: ul 859 / UL 1028 

 

10. Hair Dryers 

 - European Standard: EN 60335-2-23 

 - U.S. Standard: UL 859 

 

11. Electric Hair Clippers 

 - European Standard: EN 60335-2-8 

 - U.S. Standard: UL 859 

 

Regarding EN 60335-1:2002/A1:2004 Amendment: 

All products (excluding air conditioners) that feature electronic control circuits and incorporate electronic protection or standby functions must undergo A1 testing, such as fans.

A1:2004 - Mandatory Implementation Date

 

The A1 amendment primarily introduces three testing aspects:

- Durability of electronic components (Clause 11.)

- EMC testing (Clause 19.11.4)

- Mechanical strength of solid insulation panels (Clause 21.)

 

Products requiring A1 testing typically include those with:

- Electronic protection circuits

- Electronic disconnect switches

- Standby mode switches
