US Magnet Products 16 CFR 1262 Regulation GCC Certificate

Recently, some magnetic products were recalled by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) due to excessive magnetic flux, resulting in seller accounts being directly marked as high risk and funds being frozen. According to the requirements of the CPSC 16 CFR 1262 regulation, all consumer products containing strong magnets (such as refrigerator magnets, magnetic beads, magnetic building blocks, etc.) must pass the 16 CFR 1262 test and be issued a gcc certificate. Product listings that cannot provide a gcc certificate complying with the 16 CFR 1262 standard will have their sales affected.

US Magnet Products Policy

It is required that all magnet products are tested and comply with the following regulations, standards, and requirements:

One of the following two options:

• Test requirement: Magnet flux index <50 kG²mm²

Option 1:

• Non-toy magnets: 16 CFR 1262 (Safety Standard for Magnets)

Option 2:

• Toy magnets: ASTM F963-23 or astm f963-17 Section 4.38 (Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Toy Safety)

Note: Magnetic products manufactured after April 20, 2024, must comply with the requirements of ASTM F963-23.

16 CFR 1262 Product Scope of Application

Non-toy magnets refer to products designed, marketed, or intended to be used for entertainment purposes, jewelry making (including children's jewelry), mental stimulation, or stress relief. Such as:

• Magnetic beads / Buckyballs

• Magnetic building blocks / Magnetic tiles

• Refrigerator magnets / Decorative magnets

• Magnetic jewelry (bracelets, necklaces, earrings)

Qualification Report Requirements

You must provide a test report issued by an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory proving that the product complies with the relevant requirements of 16 CFR 1262 or ASTM F963, or a General Certificate of Conformity (GCC), or a Certificate of Analysis (COA). Ensure the report is accepted by Amazon.
