What is telec certification?

TELEC certification is a requirement for wireless products to be legally sold and used in Japan, similar to other countries' regulations such as srrc certification in China, fcc-ID in the United States, and kcc certification in South Korea.

What documents are required for TELEC certification?

l Application form

l Three prototypes (two regular prototypes, one fixed-frequency)

l Product manual

l Bill of Materials (BOM)

l Circuit schematic

l PCB layout

l Block diagram

l Schematic description

l Fixed frequency software + operating instructions

l Antenna gain (for products with antennas like WIFI, BT, 2G, 3G)

l Key components list

TELEC certification process:

1. Prepare application materials, including product technical specifications, user manuals, antenna drawings, etc.

2. Test your product and collect test reports.

3. Submit all documents to TELEC for review.

4. If approved, TELEC will issue a certificate allowing your product to be sold and used in Japan.

TELEC certification considerations:

· Ensure your product complies with Japanese radio regulations, or else certification will not be granted.

· Major modifications or updates to your product will require re-certification.

· Products that fail certification cannot be sold or used in Japan.

telec certification costs:

TELEC certification costs vary depending on the product. Specific costs will be determined based on your product's details. Approximate costs for TELEC certification are as follows: Telec certification cost for Bluetooth headphones: around $2000; Telec certification cost for Bluetooth speakers: around $2200; Telec certification cost for wireless mice: around $2150.

TELEC certification validity period:

TELEC certification is valid for 5 years. However, if significant modifications or updates are made to your product within this time frame, re-certification will be required.
