Starting July 6, 2025, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ised)will officially implement the new wireless testing standard ANSI/USEMCSC C63.2-2023, replacing the previous C63.2-2016 version. This will become the only recognized equipment measurement standard.
This update directly impacts ISED-accredited laboratories and will affect all enterprises and manufacturers referencing the fcc testing system.

ANSI/USEMCSC C63.2is a measurement instrumentation standard for wireless products and RF devices, mainly covering:
1. Antenna port test instrumentation configuration
2. Signal chain system setup
3. EMI measurement equipment performance requirements
4. Calibration methods for receivers and signal analyzers
The new C63.2-2023introduces stricter and more advanced technical requirements for equipment consistency, sensitivity, dynamic range, and more, to enhance the accuracy and repeatability of RF testing.
1. C63.2-2023 replaces C63.2-2016 as the only ISED-recognized version
2. Applies to measurement system requirements for all RF wireless devices
3. Test reports not based on the new standard will no longer be accepted
4. Also applies to multinational laboratories referencing FCC requirements
In addition to C63.2, the announcement reaffirms the continued applicability of these standards:
1. ANSI C63.4: Methods of measuring electromagnetic interference (EMI)
2. ANSI C63.5: Antenna calibration and measurement
3. ANSI C63.26: Compliance testing guidance for wireless communication devices
4. ANSI C63.30: Technical requirements for testing multi-band devices
These standards provide a unified technical framework for FCC and ISED systems, helping manufacturers achieve certification for North American markets.
If you plan to pursue ised certification in Canada or testing at FCC-recognized laboratories after July 2025, make sure to:
1. Ensure your laboratory uses ANSI/USEMCSC C63.2-2023for testing
2. Clearly state the standard version referenced in submitted reports
3. Confirm with the certification body that they have adopted the new standard to avoid report rejection or delays
