What is TRA/TDRA Certification?

Any radio and telecommunication equipment sold or distributed in the UAE must be registeRED and approved by the Telecommunications RegULatory Authority (TRA). The TRA is responsible for market approval of radio technology products in the UAE. Only with this certification can manufacturers distribute their products in the UAE.

TRA stands for Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, which was established under Federal Law No. 3 of 2003 regarding the Organization of the Telecommunications Sector. It is the governing body of telecommunications and information technology in the UAE. TRA has established type approval regulations and a type approval manual. According to Article 3 of the type approval regulations, radio equipment used or sold/displayed in the UAE must be approved by the TRA.

The applicant for tra certification must be a local company or a foreign company registered in the UAE. Generally, UAE certification is referred to as TRA certification or TDRA certification. Typically, domestic CE-RED certification is done first, then transferred to the UAE with the help of a UAE agent.

What Products Require TRA Certification?

Products with wireless radio frequency functions, including IT and home appliances, and other products with wireless radio frequency or communication features such as mobile phones, tablets, Bluetooth headsets, Bluetooth speakers, projectors, wireless chargers, smart baby formula makers, WiFi routers, smart learning devices, children's watches, etc.

What is the TRA Certification Application Process?

1. Fill out the application form and provide product information.

2. Send samples for testing (if CE has not been applied for), and submit documents.

3. Authorize us to apply for supplier and product registration with TDRA.

4. TDRA reviews the application and issues the type approval certificate upon approval.

5. Once the applicant receives the certificate, products can be shipped freely.

2. Samples, product manual, wireless specification document, CE-RED test report, and pictures.

What is the Validity and Application Cycle of TRA Certification?

- Dealer Registration Certificate: Valid for 5 years.

- Application cycle: 2-3 weeks if CE certification has been done; if not, additional one week for CE-RED testing.
