Introduction to U.S. DOE Certification (Power Supplies)

The U.S. Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR 430) mandates that all external power supplies entering the U.S. market must meet a minimum energy efficiency level of Level IV and clearly indicate this on the product. Additionally, manufacturers and brand owners are required to submit two critical documents to the Department of Energy (DOE).

1. Compliance Statement: A declaration that the product meets the energy efficiency requirements under federal regulations.

2. First Certification Report: The initial certification report for the product.

Both documents must be submitted to the DOE via mail. The preparation of these documents must follow the DOE's prescribed format. The certification report may be submitted by a third-party organization on behalf of the manufacturer or brand owner. The information provided must include details such as the product class, manufacturer/brand name, efficiency (%), no-load power consumption (W), and rated output power (W) for each individual model.

Standards for DOE Certification

- U.S. Code of Federal Regulations: 10 CFR 429 and 10 CFR 430

- 10 CFR 429: Specifies sample selection criteria and reporting requirements.

- 10 CFR 430: Defines test methods and compliance declaration requirements.
