Legal Permitted Frequency Bands (Only 7 Bands, Out-of-Band Goods Will Be Confiscated)

All wireless microphones on sale must have transmitting frequencies falling within the following ranges; other bands are strictly prohibited from import and circulation:

  • 40.66 – 40.70 MHz: Low-frequency small wireless microphones

  • 87 – 108 MHz: FM wireless microphones

  • 182.025 – 182.975 MHz: VHF professional microphones

  • 217.025 – 217.975 MHz: VHF professional microphones

  • 218.025 – 218.475 MHz: VHF professional microphones

  • 470 – 694 MHz: U-band stage wireless microphones (Market mainstream)

  • 1795 – 1800 MHz: Digital wireless audio microphones

Power Limit Specifications (ERP - Effective Radiated Power)

  • VHF Low Band (40 / 87-108 / 182 / 217 MHz): ≤ 10mW

  • UHF 470-694 MHz Stage Microphones: ≤ 50mW

  • 1795-1800 MHz Digital Audio: ≤ 20mW

Key Prohibitions

  • Equipment operating above 694MHz and in the 700-900MHz band is strictly prohibited from being exported to Vietnam. Violations will result in customs confiscation + a fine of 30%-100% of the cargo value.

  • 2.4G Bluetooth microphones are not classified as audio-specific wireless microphones. They require a separate Bluetooth SRD Mic certification and cannot share the certificate for this frequency band.

  • The complete device cannot be designed across compliant frequency bands and must not be compatible with channels above 700MHz.

Mandatory Full Set of Test Standards & Test Items

1. Radio Frequency (RF) Standard: QCVN 54:2019/BTTTT

  • Mandatory Test Items: Operating frequency range, frequency stability, channel bandwidth, adjacent channel leakage ratio (ACLR), ERP transmission power, harmonics / in-band and out-of-band spurious emissions, antenna conducted emissions, and modulation parameters.

2. Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC): Dual Standards in Parallel

  • QCVN 130:2022 (Specific for Wireless Audio): Conducted/radiated disturbances, ESD (electrostatic discharge), EFT (electrical fast transient burst), surges, voltage dips, and audio anti-interference special tests.

  • QCVN 18:2022: General radio EMC baseline standard.

3. Safety Standards

  • QCVN 101:2016: Internal lithium battery safety.

  • TCVN transformed IEC62368-1: Charging adapter safety regulations.

4. Additional Tests for High-Power Stage Sets

  • Audio signal-to-noise ratio, distortion, and multi-channel isolation (used for market spot-check interference determination).

Strict Requirements for Mic certificate Holders (No Certification Without a Local Entity)

1. Eligible Certificate Holders (Overseas Factories/Brands Cannot Hold Certificates Directly)

  • Local Vietnamese import trading companies, general agents in Vietnam, or foreign-invested registered branch companies in Vietnam (holding a GPKD business license).

2. Required Qualification Documents

  • Vietnamese business license, tax registration, notarized legal representative ID, and a manufacturer's 3-year valid irrevocable local authorization letter.

3. Legal Responsibilities of the Certificate Holder

  • Sole Accountable Entity: All fines and recalls due to equipment interfering with broadcasting/communication networks are borne by the Vietnamese company holding the certificate.

  • Must keep the full set of test reports and technical files for no less than 5 years to cooperate with official random inspections at any time.

  • Hardware changes to models must undergo a certificate modification application; unauthorized modification and circulation are illegal.

  • Certificate validity is 3 years. Renewal must be completed 30 days before expiration.

  • Must cooperate with annual RFD market sampling retests. Non-compliant products face mandatory removal and recall.

Supplementary Rule: One CR certificate is bound to only 1 holding company. Multiple distributors selling the same model must share the same certificate holder.

Overseas Manufacturing Factory Audit & Document Requirements

1. Necessary Factory Documents for Certification Application

  • Notarized ISO9001:2015 system certificate in Chinese and English.

  • Factory business license, real photos of the production workshop, and real photos of the production line.

  • OEM/ODM brand cooperation statement.

  • Purchased RF modules require a module compliance report + supplier authorization.

2. Strict Production Quality Control Requirements

  • Production Line RF Full Inspection Station: The frequency and transmission power of each device must be tested and recorded.

  • Component Change Control: Any changes to RF chips, antennas, or crystal oscillators must be reported to MIC for a certificate modification.

  • Complete device serial number batch traceability system and non-conforming product isolation ledger.

  • Unified label control to ensure the nameplate frequency band and power parameters exactly match the certificate.

3. Factory Audit Rules

  • Ordinary consumer-grade wireless microphones are exempt from on-site factory audits for initial certification.

  • High-power multi-channel stage microphones, new brands, and models with a history of failing random inspections will trigger remote video or on-site factory audits. Failure to pass the audit results in direct rejection of the certificate.

Number of Test Samples & Strict Sample Specifications

1. Number of Samples to Submit (TX Transmitter + RX Receiver Set)

  • Basic Model: 3 handheld/bodypack transmitters (2 for testing + 1 backup for teardown), 2 receivers.

  • Derivative Models: (Different housing/battery, unchanged RF) Add 1 transmitter per model.

  • Charging Adapter: 1 set submitted simultaneously for safety battery testing.

  • Spare Components: RF chips, antennas, and crystal oscillators (2 sets each).

2. Strict Sample Regulations

  • Must be mass-produced finished products; engineering prototypes or software power-locked prototypes are prohibited. Original shipping firmware must be used.

  • FM models must cover complete testing of the upper limit, lower limit, and middle frequency points of the band.

  • Must use factory-standard antennas and mass-produced original batteries; laboratory modifications are not allowed.

  • Sample nameplates, manuals, casings, and shipping finished products must be completely identical.

3. Supporting Technical Documents

  • High-definition pictures of the complete device nameplate, bilingual Vietnamese-English manual, PCB schematic diagram, RF block diagram, BOM list, and antenna specifications.

Compliance Requirements for Product Labels, Packaging, and Manuals

1. Mandatory Content Printed on the Body Nameplate

  • Vietnam CR compliance mark (minimum height 3mm).

  • Complete CR certificate number.

  • Product model, brand, operating frequency band, and maximum ERP power.

  • Manufacturer name and origin ("Made in China").

  • Lithium battery safety warning mark (for charging models).

2. Outer Packaging Carton Requirements

  • Print the CR certificate number and frequency band parameters.

  • Print Vietnamese warnings: Prohibited to modify RF power or replace the antenna without authorization.

  • Indicate the name and address of the Vietnamese certified importer.

3. Mandatory Vietnamese Content in the Manual

  • Indicate the compliant frequency band range, warnings against illegal modifications, and contact methods for local certified agent after-sales service.

Important Notes (Foreign Trade & Factories Must Read)

  • Frequency Band Risks: Models exceeding the 694MHz U-band will be confiscated directly. Spectrums above 700MHz are exclusively dedicated to Vietnamese broadcasting.

  • Laboratory Reports: Overseas CE/fcc reports are not directly mutually recognized. Priority is given to local MIC-authorized laboratories in Vietnam.

  • Certificate Modification: Modifying RF circuits, antennas, or power resistors without applying for a change certification will result in device confiscation + hefty fines.

  • Customs Clearance Inspection: Customs verifies the nameplate parameters against the certificate; mismatches lead to direct confiscation. RFD conducts offline market actual measurements with spectrum analyzers; equipment exceeding power limits will all be destroyed. Uncertified circulation incurs fines of 50 million to 200 million VND.

  • Agent Risks: Shell companies are prohibited from holding certificates. The authorization agreement must clearly delineate responsibilities for fines, renewals, and random inspections.

  • Misconceptions About Temporary Use: Performance rental equipment also requires a CR certificate. Only temporary exhibition samples can apply for a short-term spectrum license, and they cannot be sold.

  • Battery Compliance: Models with built-in lithium batteries must simultaneously meet the QCVN101 battery standard, otherwise, a certificate cannot be issued.

Complete mic certification Process

  1. Confirm the product's frequency band falls within the 7 permitted ranges.

  2. MIC-authorized laboratory completes the full set of RF + EMC + lithium battery safety tests.

  3. Determine the local Vietnamese holding company and collect factory ISO, brand authorization, and full sets of technical documents.

  4. Submit documents to VTC/QUACERT for review (Cycle: 15-30 working days).

  5. Issue the CR certificate of conformity; the product is printed with the CR mark.

  6. The Vietnamese certificate holder handles import customs clearance, and the product is launched for sale.

  7. Renew the certificate every 3 years upon expiration and cooperate with official annual sampling inspections.

Vietnam's MIC spectrum control for wireless microphones is extremely strict. The three core conditions—frequency band, power, and local certificate holder—are all indispensable. Before exporting, proactively verify the product's RF parameters, strictly complete certification and label rectification, and avoid massive financial losses caused by detained goods.
