Changes to IMDA Certification

In October 2016, the former Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and Media Development Authority (MDA) were restructuRED into two new bodies:

1. Info-Communications Media Development Authority (IMDA)

2. Government Technology Agency (GovTech)

Certificates issued before October 2016 remain valid until their stated expiry date and do not require re-application. However, certificates issued after this date must comply with the updated IMDA regulations. The new labeling requirements also apply and must include the applicant’s registration number.

Key Information About IMDA Certification

1. Mandatory Certification: IMDA certification is compulsory for applicable products.

2. No Sample or Factory Inspection Required: The process does not require physical samples or on-site factory audits.
