Achieving GPSR Compliance in Germany

Views :
Update time : 2025-06-04

As the General Product Safety RegULation (gpsr) officially comes into effect at the end of 2024, more and more sellers have completed compliance requirements for the German marketplace. If you are already GPSR compliant in Germany, you can synchronize compliance with other EU marketplaces like France, Italy, and Spain in just three simple steps—with zero additional cost!

What Is GPSR?

The EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) has been fully enforced since 2023. It impacts most non-food consumer products sold in the EU (e.g., toys, electronics, household goods, etc.).

Steps to Synchronize GPSR Compliance Across Other EU Marketplaces

If your products are already live and compliant on Amazon Germany, follow these three simple steps to achieve GPSR compliance in other EU countries (France, Italy, Spain, etc.).

STEP 1: Update Product Label Language

- If your product contains safety warning messages, ensure the label includes languages of the destination countries. Recommended languages: German, French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Polish, Swedish, Belgian, Irish.

- If there are no safety warnings, no label changes are needed.

STEP 2: Upload Updated Warning and Safety Information

- If you've already uploaded a PS01 warning image for Germany, re-upload it to Germany, and it will automatically sync to other EU marketplaces.

- If you've uploaded a product safety file (e.g., PDF manual), upload it separately for each new EU site and ensure it includes the appropriate language.

- If you've selected a product safety declaration in Germany, no further action is needed.

> Tip: Completing any one of the above steps is sufficient for compliance.

STEP 3: Synchronize EU Responsible Person & Manufacturer Information

Go to each new marketplace's Seller Central:

Performance > Account Health > Regulatory Compliance

Save the EU Responsible Person and Manufacturer Information.

- You do not need to register a new responsible person; existing information can be reused.

> Tip for Brand Owners: Once uploaded under the brand level, all future products synced to new marketplaces will automatically comply, with no additional steps requiRED.

Product Labeling Requirements

- EU Responsible Person

Must include: Name, postal address, email/URL.

Language: Any official EU language (e.g., English, German, French).

- Manufacturer

Must include: Name, postal address, email/URL.

Language: Any official EU language (e.g., English, German, French).

- Warnings and Safety Info

(e.g., toy safety warnings, cheMICal hazard warnings)

Must be in the language of the destination country/region.

- At Least One Product Identifier

Common codes: FNSKU, GTIN, EAN, product type, lot number, serial number, or any info that helps identify the product.

Common Misunderstandings

Q: Do I need to repeat the compliance process for every EU marketplace?

A: No. Most responsible person and manufacturer info is reusable. In some cases, Amazon will sync the data automatically.

Q: Do I need to register multiple EU Responsible Persons?

A: No. If you already have a responsible person for Germany, you can use the same for France, Italy, Spain, etc.

Q: My product is too small to fit the label. What should I do?

A:

- You can place label components separately on different parts of the product or include them in a manual inside the package.

- There's no fixed format. As long as the information is clear and meets regulatory requirements, it's compliant.

Final Reminder

Sellers must take GPSR compliance seriously. Follow platform rules and compliance steps to ensure your products are eligible for sale in the EU. Avoid potential fines or bans due to violations.
