Update time : 2024-10-17

Test or Certification Name: Sex Toys

Design and safety requirements for products in direct contact with genitalia, the anus, or both.

Test and Certification Details:

This document specifies safety and user information requirements related to the materials and design of products manufactuRED for sexual purposes.

It only covers finished products intended for direct contact with genitalia and/or the anus.

This document does not primarily apply to products classified as medical devices, cosmetics, or auxiliary products, such as lubricants and massage oils.

- Sex toys with heating functions must not exceed 118°F, approximately 47.7°C (otherwise, it may cause first-degree burns).

- Any part of a toy that may come into contact with intimate body parts (genitalia, anus) shoULd be "smooth, with no burrs or sharp edges."

- Users must be explicitly informed that anal plugs and beads should not be left inside the body for long periods, and if removal is difficult, a medical professional may assist.

- For chastity cages and ring-type toys, they must be removable with pliers or other common tools in case of an emergency.

Additional standards include product packaging, the use of biodegradable, eco-friendly materials, cleaning instructions for adult toys, and risk assessment protocols.

Compliance with ISO standards is voluntary for businesses, so not all adult toys on the market will immediately meet iso 3533 standards upon release. However, having an ISO standard provides guidelines for the industry, and meeting these standards could become a key selling point for adult toy manufacturers.
