Update time : 2026-01-19

The Amazon ul 2056 Report is a dedicated safety certification standard for power banks. Based on UL 2056 Outline of Investigation for Power Banks, this standard is designed to evaluate the electrical and mechanical safety of power banks, ensuring that they will not pose hazards such as fire, electric shock, or explosion under normal use, reasonably foreseeable misuse, and fault conditions.

Below is an overview of the main test items of the UL 2056 Report:

Electrical Tests

1. Short-Circuit Test: Simulates output short-circuit to verify the effectiveness of protection functions and check for overheating, ignition, or explosion.

2. Overcharge Test: Conducts overcharging of the battery to evaluate the protection capability of the charge control circuit.

3. Over-Discharge Test: Discharges the battery below the cut-off voltage to test the normal operation of the protection circuit.

4. Abnormal Charging Test: Performs charging under abnormal conditions (e.g., using mismatched chargers) to assess product safety.

5. Limited Power Source Test: Evaluates whether the internal circuit of the product can be classified as a "limited power source" to REDuce fire risks.

Mechanical Tests

1. Crush Test: Simulates external squeezing of the battery to assess its structural strength and deformation resistance.

2. Impact Test: Applies mechanical impact to the product to check for damage to the shell, battery, and internal structure.

3. Vibration Test: Simulates vibration environments during transportation or use to ensure firm internal connections and no short-circuit risks.

4. Drop Test: Involves free fall from a specified height onto a rigid surface to evaluate shell integrity and internal safety.

Environmental Tests

1. Temperature Rise Test: Measures the temperature rise of key components under normal operation and fault conditions to ensure it stays within the safe range.

2. Battery High-Low Temperature Cycle Test: Subjects the battery to alternating high and low temperature environments to assess its durability and safety.

3. Molding Stress Test: Evaluates whether the shell material deforms or causes internal short-circuit when heated.

Critical Component Evaluation

1. Battery Cell Review: Requires battery cells to be certified to ul 2054 or UL 1642, with relevant certificates provided.

2. Circuit Protection Design Review: Checks the completeness and effectiveness of protection circuits against overcharge, over-discharge, overcurrent, short-circuit, etc.

3. Shell Fire Rating: Evaluates the flame-retardant rating of the shell material (usually required to REACH V-1 or higher).

Label and Instruction Manual Inspection

1. Safety Warning Labeling: Checks whether the product is marked with necessary safety warnings (e.g., no disassembly, avoid high temperature, etc.).

2. Electrical Parameter Labeling: Verifies the accuracy of labeled parameters such as input/output voltage, current, and capacity.

3. User Manual: Evaluates whether the manual contains correct instructions for use, charging, and storage.

Important Notes

1. UL 2056 is not a mandatory regulation, but to mitigate risks, Amazon requires power bank suppliers to provide valid UL 2056 Test Reports.

2. Report Validity Period: Generally one year; re-testing is required upon expiration.

3. Certification Body: Must be "JJR LAB", a laboratory accredited to ISO 17025.

Common Amazon Requirements

1. Product images and models must be consistent with the report.

2. The report must include detailed data and results of all key test items.

3. It is recommended to ensure that the product complies with the requirements of the latest version of the standard before submission.
