Recently, many sellers on Amazon Canada have received emails regarding updated compliance requirements for the following categories: AdULt Mattresses, Candles and Candle Holders, and Tents.

Below are the key timelines for this compliance policy implementation and product removal. Please submit the requiRED compliance documents promptly to avoid product delisting.

Product Categories and Requirements

Adult Mattresses

- Sales Eligibility: Products can be sold after passing compliance review.

- Policy Effective Date: December 19, 2024

- Product Removal Date: February 17, 2025

Candles and Candle Holders

- Sales Eligibility: Products can be sold after passing compliance review.

- Policy Effective Date: December 19, 2024

Compliance Requirements

Adult Mattresses

Amazon requires all adult mattresses to undergo testing and meet the following regulations, standards, and requirements:

- Applicable Regulations:

- SOR/2016-183 (Mattress Regulations)

- Textile Labelling Act and Textile Labelling and Advertising Regulations (C.R.C., c.1551)

Product Detail Page Requirements:

- Accurate product descriptions, including materials used in construction

- Compliance declarations for SOR/2016-183 and the Textile Labelling and Advertising Regulations

- Clear labelling information as required by the Textile Labelling Act

- Safety information and warnings (if applicable)

Required Seller Submissions:

1. Documents

- A test report issued by an ISO 17025-certified laboratory, demonstrating compliance with:

- SOR/2016-183 (Mattress Regulations)

- Textile Labelling and Advertising Regulations (C.R.C., c.1551)

2. Images

- Clear images of the mattress from multiple angles

- Close-up images of the labels showing compliance with the Textile Labelling and Advertising Regulations

Candles and Candle Holders

Amazon requires all candles and candle holders to meet the following regulations, standards, and requirements:

Candles:

- SOR/2016-165 (Candle Regulations)

- ASTM F2417-17 (Fire Safety Standard for Candles)

- ASTM F2058-07 (2021) (Fire Safety Label Standard for Candles)

Candle Holders:

- ASTM F2601-18 (Fire Safety Standard for Candle Accessories)

Additionally, all candles and candle holders must include bilingual (English and French) safety warnings and instructions.

- Manufacturer or brand name

Required Seller Submissions:

- A test report issued by an ISO 17025-accredited laboratory, demonstrating compliance with the above regulations, standards, and requirements

Note: This policy does not apply to tents designed, manufactured, or marketed as toys (which must comply with Amazon’s children’s toy policies).

Product Detail Page Requirements:

- Manufacturer or brand name

Required Seller Submissions:

1. Documents

- A test report issued by an ISO 17025-accredited laboratory, demonstrating compliance with the above regulations, standards, and requirements; or

- A Certificate of Compliance (CoC) issued by an accredited laboratory, certifying compliance with the above regulations and standards

2. Images

- Model, part number, or item number

- Name and address of the manufacturer, importer, distributor, or authorized representative

- Brand name or registered trademark

- Product labels

- Compliance marks

- Hazard warnings

- Product instructions and manuals
