CPSC Third-Party Testing Labs

CPSC stands for U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Children’s products sold on Amazon US must provide a CPC Certificate issued by a CPSC-accredited laboratory. This is often referred to as “CPSC Certification,” although there is no official certification named CPSC.

About U.S. CPSC

CPSC is the abbreviation of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, a U.S. federal agency responsible for establishing and enforcing safety standards and regulations for consumer products.

CPSC regulates over 15,000 different products. Its rules include collecting product safety data, notifying consumers of hazards, and establishing hazard mitigation methods. CPSC regulations address risks such as electronic oscillations, fire hazards, and other safety threats. They also apply to products involved in lawsuits or that have caused injury or death due to non-compliance with safety standards.

Manufacturers, importers, distributors, and retailers must report unsafe products in writing. Only products with approved safety certifications are allowed on the market.

Amazon CPC certificate Requirements

1. Children’s products must comply with applicable rules and safety regulations and undergo mandatory third-party testing.

2. Testing must be performed by a CPSC-accredited laboratory such as JJR LAB.

3. The CPC Certificate is issued by the third-party laboratory based on test results.

4. Children’s products must meet all applicable CPSC rules and regulations.

CPSC has issued 38 standards. Main test items include:

1. cpsia: Total lead & phthalates

2. U.S. Toy Standard: ASTM F963

3. Electric Toy Safety: 16 CFR Part 1505

4. Rattles: 16 CFR Part 1510

5. Pacifiers: 16 CFR Part 1511

6. Flammability (children’s apparel, carpets): 16 CFR Part 1610

7. Juvenile products: strollers, cribs, playards, carriers, car seats, bicycle helmets, etc.
