The JJR E-cigarette Laboratory in China is equipped with a fully functional chemical laboratory featuring ultrasonic cleaners, Milestone microwave digestion systems, centrifuges, shakers, high-speed dispersing homogenizers, pipettes, as well as dedicated e-cigarette inorganic and organic pretreatment rooms, and a high-purity smoking room specifically for e-cigarettes to prevent cross-contamination. It primarily tests harmful components in aerosol liquids and e-cigarette emissions, focusing on substances like nicotine, formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, acrolein, crotonaldehyde, tobacco-specific nitrosamines, heavy metals, diacetyl, and alcohols, ensuring compliance with standards in the EU, US, China, Middle East, Southeast Asia, and more.
Batteries must comply with safety requirements such as UN38.3, EN/IEC62133, EU Directive 2006/66/EC, and U.S. Public Law 104-142.
The mouthpiece, due to prolonged oral contact, must meet food contact material requirements: FDA and GRAS in the U.S., EU Directive (EC) No1935/2004, Germany’s LFGB, France’s DGCCRF, and China's GB4806 series.
E-liquids and emissions must meet hazardous substance requirements: FDA and GRAS in the U.S., EU Directive (EC) No1935/2004, LFGB in Germany, DGCCRF in France, and GB4806 in China.
Routine chemical tests on e-liquids include propylene glycol, glycerol, nicotine/alkaloids, diethylene glycol, tobacco-specific nitrosamines, diacetyl, phthalates, and heavy metals (As, Pb, Hg, Cr, Ni, Cd, etc.).
Routine chemical tests on e-cigarette emissions include nicotine/alkaloids, PG and VG impurities (ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol), aldehydes and ketones (formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, acrolein, crotonaldehyde, butyraldehyde, propionaldehyde, methyl ethyl ketone, acetone), tobacco-specific nitrosamines (NNN, NNK, NAT, NAB), and heavy metals (Cr, Ni, Pb, Cd, As, Sb, Hg).
Finished e-cigarettes must comply with electronics testing requirements such as EU RoHS Directive, EU reach regulation, EU CE certification, U.S. FCC certification, South Korea kc certification, Japan pse certification, and any additional tests required by retailers and brands.
Certification for finished e-cigarettes in other countries includes Malaysia’s SIRIM, Philippines LTO and CPR registration, UAE ECAS registration, among others.
