FCC-ID (Federal Communications Commission Identifier) is a unique identifier issued by the Federal Communications Commission (fcc) of the United States to identify and track electronic devices and products. Every electronic product sold in the U.S. market must obtain a separate FCC-ID to prove that it has passed the FCC's certification tests and complies with FCC regulations and requirements.

FCC-ID Certification in the U.S. Requires a U.S. Agent(图1)

Composition of FCC-ID:

fcc id = Grantee code + Product code.

FCC-ID certification is a type of fcc certification for wireless products. If a product has wireless transmission and reception capabilities, it must apply for an FCC ID to be sold in the U.S. market. In simple terms, products with wireless functions like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G, 4G, etc., need to apply for fcc id certification to be sold in the U.S.

Basic Information Required to Apply for FCC-ID:

1. Product block diagram

2. Circuit schematic diagram

3. English user manual

4. Antenna specifications

5. Frequency software and operation manual

6. U.S. agent information

FCC-ID Testing Items and Timeline:

For wireless products, the testing includes EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) and RF (Radio Frequency) projects. For close-range communication products, testing includes EMC, RF, and SAR (Specific Absorption Rate). The requirements vary by product category, and the testing period typically takes more than two weeks.

Common Wireless Products:

- Wireless chargers

- Car Bluetooth devices

- Video doorbells

- Game controllers

- Remote controllers

- All-in-one machines

- Advertising machines

- Smart lighting

- Voice robots

- Drones

- Remote-controlled airplane/car toys

- Smart home devices

- Tire pressure monitoring systems

- Bluetooth weight scales

- Smartwatches

- Bluetooth trackers

- Pet trackers

- Wireless keyboards/mice

- Bluetooth selfie sticks

- TWS earphones/Bluetooth earphones

- Wireless cameras, etc.

What is a U.S. Agent for FCC-ID?

According to U.S. regulations, any foreign company engaged in the manufacture, preparation, propagation, combination, or processing of equipment imported into the U.S. must designate a U.S. Authorized Agent.

Main Functions of a U.S. Authorized Agent:

1. As the authorized representative designated by the manufacturer, the U.S. agent is responsible for contacting U.S. regulatory agencies and assisting with product incident reports, notices, recalls, etc.

2. The U.S. agent keeps the manufacturer's technical documents and communicates with the manufacturer to respond to inquiries from regulatory agencies.

3. The FCC/FCC-ID certification documentation must include the following details of the U.S. agent: name, address, and phone number.

FCC ID Certification Process:

1. Application

   (1) Fill out the application form

   (2) Submit the company information form

   (3) Provide product documentation

2. Quotation

Based on the provided materials, the testing standards, testing time, and corresponding fees will be determined.

3. Payment

After the applicant confirms the quote, an application form and service agreement will be signed, and the full project fee will be paid.

4. Testing

The laboratory conducts a full set of tests on the product according to relevant U.S. testing standards.

5. Testing Passes, Report Completed

6. Project Completion, fcc certificate Issued
