What is Canadian ic certification?

IC stands for Industry Canada, a government agency responsible for the certification of electronic and electrical products entering the Canadian market. The products it oversees include: broadcast equipment, information technology equipment, radio equipment, telecommunication equipment, and medical engineering equipment. Similar to the fcc in the United States, IC primarily focuses on electromagnetic interference restrictions.

Which Products Require IC Certification?

1. Lighting products

2. Information technology and peripheral products

3. Audio and video products

4. Mechanical products

5. Electrical equipment

6. Telecommunications equipment

7. Medical engineering equipment

IC Certification Categories:

Self-verification and Certification are the two methods available.

ic id: CN (Company Number, up to 6 digits) + UPN (Unique Product Number, up to 8 digits).

IC ID Application Requirements:

1. A Canadian representative address is required.

2. The label must include the following information: (Manufacturer name or trademark, model name, IC ID number).

IC Certification Standards:

- ICES-001: Analog devices

- ICES-003: Digital terminal devices

- RSS Series: Transmitting and receiving devices, low-power wireless radio frequency products. Example: RSS-210, applicable to wireless mice and keyboards, wireless remote control toys, and other low-power RF products.

- CS03: Telecommunication terminal products (PSTN)

Basic Information for Enterprises:

- Non-wireless products:

The documentation required for IC certification is simple, including a sample, product manual, and application form.

- Wireless electronic products:

Wireless products entering Canada must apply for IC-ID certification. The required documents include:

  1. Schematics

  2. Block Diagram

  3. Circuit Description

  4. User Manual

  5. RF Prototype

  6. Software and hardware version numbers

  7. Product serial number

  8. Canadian representative information

  9. Fixed-frequency software version number

Required Time:

- IC: 1 week (for regular electronic products, certified by third-party laboratories)

- IC ID: 4 weeks (for wireless products, certified by TCB organizations)
