JJR Reminder

According to the reach regulation, when a substance is added to the SVHC list, companies must comply with legal obligations, regardless of whether the substance is in the form of a substance, mixture, or article.

For substances listed on the SVHC list, if their concentration in an article exceeds 0.1% by weight, suppliers are requiRED to provide information to their customers and consumers to ensure safe use. Consumers have the right to inquire whether the products they purchase contain substances from the SVHC list.

If an article contains a substance from the SVHC list at a concentration above 0.1% by weight and 1 ton/year/importer, the importer or manufacturer must notify the European Chemicals Agency within 6 months from the date the article is placed on the list (November 7, 2024).

Under the Waste Framework Directive, if an article produced by a company contains a substance from the SVHC list with a concentration exceeding 0.1% by weight, it must also be reported to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). This notification will be published in the ECHA's SCIP (Substances of Concern In Articles as such or in Complex Objects) database.
