Update time : 2026-01-30

Recently, we have received inquiries from customers regarding Australian saa certification. They mentioned that they have not been involved in the Australian market before and do not have a good understanding of the relevant certifications. Now, we woULd like to introduce Australia's safety certification—saa certification.

First, let's learn about the origin of SAA certification.

The standards body of Australia is the Standards Association of Australia, so many people refer to Australia's safety certification as SAA certification. SAA certification is a safety regulation that electrical products entering the Australian market must comply with. Products within the scope of mandatory certification must obtain SAA certification and be marked with the certification certificate number before they can be legally sold in Australia. Due to the mutual recognition agreement between Australia and New Zealand, products certified in Australia can also be smoothly sold in the New Zealand market.

After learning about SAA certification, you may ask again: Is SAA certification requiRED for lamps sold to Australia? Please take your time and let us explain it to you in detail.

Lamps and lighting products also require SAA certification when entering the Australian market. The main testing standards are AS/NZS 60598, AS/NZS 60598-1, and AS/NZS 60598-2-X. Testing items include labeling, construction, wiring, voltage withstand, earthing, temperature rise, humidity test, IP rating, ball pressure test, glow-wire test, and more. When applying for SAA certification for lamps, you need to provide materials such as the application form, product labels, schematic diagrams, layout drawings, product manuals, CDF list, and BOM list. Our colleagues specializing in certification will provide you with a detailed list of required materials at that time.

Next, we will address the issue of the validity period of the SAA certification certificate.

The validity period of an SAA certification certificate is 5 years. If a shorter validity period is required, the applicant may submit an application. If the relevant product standards are revised, the validity period of the certificate will also be adjusted accordingly. After the saa certificate expires, you may apply for certificate renewal if you wish to continue selling your products in the Australian market.
